The NPA Central works with pitchers who are committed to improving
We understand how challenging it is to be a pitcher. The hardest part of this position is balancing its physical and psychological challenges along with the mechanical and nutritional requirements to perform at your best and remain healthy. Our training programs focus on those 4 training elements, Bio-Mechanics, Functional Fitness, Mental/Emotional & Nutrition.
Our very talented team of instructors feature NPA Central Director Mark Sheehan the 2014 Collegiate Baseball News Tom House Teaching Professional of the Year winner. Coach Sheehan has trained side-by-side with NPA Founder Tom House since 2009 and recently teamed with the Institute of Sports Medicine Department at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Chicago Children’s Hospital to provide NPA science based instruction for their pitching clients.
Other NPA certified staff instructors Tom Page, Bradley Unger and Michael Madsen, were all hand selected and provided with the finest training techniques in the game today.
In order to maintain the professional standards we insist upon, our staff is required to participate in an ongoing process of certification. Our mandatory certification process ensures that our entire staff is well versed in the latest coaching techniques and researched discoveries.

Tom House, NPA Founder
(For Super Camps only, schedule permitting)
Tom House is considered by many to be the “father of modern pitching mechanics.” He is the founder of The Rod Dedeaux Research and Baseball Institute (RDRBI) and The National Pitching Association (NPA). The RDRBI and NPA are renowned for their health and performance research and development involving three-dimensional analysis of human movement, physical preparation and training to support rotational athletes in movement, identifying the metabolic requirements of proper nutrition to fuel human activity, and mentoring athletes’ competition with mental/emotional management skills.
Tom pitched at the professional level from 1967 to 1979 for the Atlanta Braves, Boston Red Sox, and Seattle Mariners. He coached from 1980 to 1997 for the Houston Astros, San Diego Padres, Texas Rangers, and Chiba Lotte Marines (Japan), as well as in Latin America. On the amateur level, Tom is an information and instruction coordinator for numerous baseball academies across the United States and Canada. He directly accesses thousands of players, coaches, and parents per year in clinic settings and travels the world as an international consultant, performance analyst, and sports psychologist. He is also an advisor with the American Sports Medicine Institute, the Titleist Performance Institute, and he has given seminars for the American College of Sports Medicine.
Tom has also worked with NFL quarterbacks Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Alex Smith, Carson Palmer, Matt Cassell, Terrelle Pryor as well as other collegiate-level football players.
Mark Sheehan and NPA Central have worked hard to become the region’s go-to source for science-based information and instruction on pitching a baseball. They are a health first performance academy that mentors and makes a difference with athletes of all ages and talent levels. I am proud to have Mark as a friend and as a fellow coach in the NPA network.
